I made it! After months of research and work, I finally finished putting together the boutique hotel look I wanted for my guest bedroom! I documented everything so that you can recreate the look in your own house without spending too much.

The most complicated part was to build and mount the custom headboard. I was lucky to get help from friends. Since I live in a new building, all the condo doors were covered with masonite for protection. I asked to recuperate them I got the pieces cut. I bought foam and white fabric to cover them. Total cost: $150. Laser level helped to mount each piece on the wall:

And the headboard was done!

Next step: I wanted to find nice nightstands, again for low cost… I looked and looked… and found two eightys looking tables for $25 each at a Thrift Store. I had a vision!

I first removed the traces of gold and sanded them.

Pieces of furniture from that era are often made of laminate and it can be hard to find a paint that will stick to this kind of material. Thanks to recommendations from my friends at The Home Depot, I used Smart Paint from CIL. Then I used Sico Cabinet paint (I picked a nice brown called Nunavut 6181-83) and bougth new handles for a perfect finishing touch. Total cost: $70.

Everybody wanted to help!

So here is the final result:

Have fun with paint! It can transform any piece of furniture!
